Sibling Discounts
Sibling discounts automatically reduce the price for families enrolling multiple children in the same program or activity. The more children a family enrolls, the greater the discount on additional kids. This encourages family participation and makes your facility more accessible to larger families.
How Sibling Discounts Work
Sibling discounts are applied on a per-child basis when a parent has multiple children enrolled:
- The first child pays full price (no discount).
- The second child receives the configured second-child discount.
- The third child receives the configured third-child discount.
- The fourth child (and beyond) receives the configured fourth-child discount.
Sibling discounts are calculated automatically by the system based on the number of children a parent has enrolled. No promo code or manual action is needed.
Example
Suppose your facility charges $100/month for a tennis program and has the following sibling discount configuration:
| Child | Discount | Price Paid |
|---|---|---|
| 1st child | 0% (full price) | $100 |
| 2nd child | 10% off | $90 |
| 3rd child | 15% off | $85 |
| 4th child | 20% off | $80 |
Total for a family with 4 children: $355 instead of $400.
Enabling Sibling Discounts
- Navigate to Facility Settings in your admin dashboard.
- Go to the Pricing or Discounts section.
- Toggle Sibling Discount Enabled to on.
- Set the discount percentages:
- 2nd Child Discount -- Percentage off for the second enrolled child
- 3rd Child Discount -- Percentage off for the third enrolled child
- 4th Child Discount -- Percentage off for the fourth (and subsequent) enrolled child
- Click Save.
Start with modest discounts (e.g., 5%, 10%, 15%) and adjust based on enrollment data. You can change the percentages at any time.

How the System Determines Siblings
SlotBase identifies siblings through the ParentChildLink system:
- Children linked to the same parent account are considered siblings.
- The system counts how many children from the same parent are enrolled in the same activity.
- Discounts are applied in enrollment order (first enrolled = first child, etc.).
Sibling discounts only apply to children linked to the same parent account. If two parents each have their own account with one child linked, the children are not recognized as siblings for discount purposes. Make sure all children are linked to a shared parent account.
Where Sibling Discounts Apply
Sibling discounts typically apply to:
- Program enrollments -- Monthly or session-based program fees
- Event registrations -- When multiple siblings register for the same event
- Recurring bookings -- When multiple siblings have recurring sessions
The specific application depends on your facility's configuration.
Sibling Discounts on Invoices
When sibling discounts are applied, they appear as a line item on the parent's invoice:
- Each child's fee is listed separately
- The sibling discount is shown as a deduction on the applicable children
- The invoice total reflects the discounted amount
See Invoice Overview for more details on how discounts appear on invoices.
