Resource Colors
Each resource at your facility is assigned a unique color that appears on the calendar. Color coding makes it easy to visually distinguish between different courts, fields, lanes, or rooms at a glance.
How Resource Colors Work
When you create a resource in SlotBase, you assign it a color. This color is used throughout the calendar to identify bookings and events associated with that resource.
- Column headers in day view display the resource name with its assigned color
- Booking blocks on the calendar use the resource's color as a background
- Event blocks use a distinct style (purple/gray) but still appear in the resource's column
Assigning Resource Colors
Resource colors are set during resource creation or editing:
- Navigate to Facility Settings in your admin dashboard.
- Go to the Resources section.
- Click on a resource to edit it (or create a new one).
- Select a Color from the color picker.
- Click Save.
Choose distinct, easily distinguishable colors for your resources. Avoid assigning similar shades (e.g., two courts both in light blue) to prevent confusion.
Color Coding on the Calendar
Here is how colors appear in each calendar view:
| View | How Colors Show |
|---|---|
| Day view | Each resource column has its header in the assigned color; bookings within the column use the same color |
| Week view | Bookings are color-coded by resource so you can see which resource each booking is on |
| Month view | Day summaries may show colored dots or indicators representing each resource |
Recommended Color Strategy
For facilities with multiple resources, consider a logical color scheme:
| Resource Type | Suggested Colors |
|---|---|
| Tennis courts | Shades of green (light green, dark green, teal) |
| Basketball courts | Shades of orange or brown |
| Swimming lanes | Shades of blue |
| Multi-purpose rooms | Shades of purple or pink |
| Outdoor fields | Shades of yellow or gold |
There is no required color scheme. Choose whatever makes sense for your facility and is easy for your staff and players to understand.
Changing Resource Colors
You can change a resource's color at any time:
- Go to Facility Settings and then Resources.
- Click on the resource you want to update.
- Select a new color.
- Click Save.
The new color takes effect immediately across the entire calendar. All past and future bookings for that resource update to the new color.
Colors vs. Booking Status
Resource colors are separate from booking status indicators. On the calendar, you may see additional visual cues:
| Visual Element | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Solid color block | Confirmed booking on that resource |
| Striped or hatched | Pending approval or on hold |
| Dimmed/faded | Cancelled or past booking |
| Purple block | Event with available spots |
| Gray block | Event that is full |
The resource color provides the base, and the booking or event status adds additional styling on top.
Do not rely on color alone to convey important information. SlotBase also displays text labels for booking status, player name, and time to ensure clarity.
