What Are Events?
Events are facility-organized activities that players can browse and register for directly through SlotBase. Unlike regular bookings where a player reserves a resource for personal use, events are created by the facility admin and opened up for player participation.
Types of Events
SlotBase supports a variety of event types to fit your facility's programming needs:
| Event Type | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Tournament | Competitive bracket or round-robin play | Weekend doubles tournament |
| Clinic | Instructional group session focused on skills | Beginner pickleball clinic |
| Open Play | Drop-in play session, often casual | Friday night open gym |
| Camp | Multi-day intensive program | Summer basketball camp |
You are not limited to these labels. You can title and describe your event however you like -- these categories simply represent the most common uses.
How Events Differ from Bookings
| Feature | Booking | Event |
|---|---|---|
| Created by | Player or admin | Facility admin only |
| Purpose | Reserve a resource for personal use | Organized activity for multiple players |
| Capacity | Typically 1 party | Multiple registrants with a capacity limit |
| Registration | Direct reservation | Players browse and register |
| Waitlist | Not applicable | Automatic waitlist when full |
| Waivers | Not applicable | Optional waiver requirement |
| Pricing | Based on resource rate | Set per event (can be free) |
Events and bookings both block time on a resource. When you publish an event on Court 1 from 6--8 PM, that court cannot be booked by anyone else during that window.
Event Lifecycle at a Glance
Every event moves through a predictable lifecycle:
- Draft -- The admin creates the event and fills in details. The event is not yet visible to players and does not block the resource.
- Published -- The admin publishes the event. It becomes visible to players, appears on the calendar, and blocks the assigned resource.
- Registration -- Players discover the event and register. If the event reaches capacity, additional players join the waitlist.
- Completion or Cancellation -- The event takes place as scheduled, or the admin cancels it. Cancellation notifies all registered players by email.
Save your event as a Draft first if you are still finalizing details. You can publish it later when everything is ready.

- Resource -- The court, field, or facility space used

- Price -- The registration fee (can be set to free)
- Capacity -- Maximum number of participants
- Waiver -- Optional liability waiver that players must accept before registering
