Booking a Lesson

As a player, SlotBase makes it easy to find a coach, browse their available time slots, and book a lesson. Whether you want a private session, a group class, or a drop-in clinic, the booking process is straightforward.

Finding a Coach

There are several ways to discover coaches at your facility:

  1. Browse the coaching directory -- Go to the facility page and click Coaches to see all active coaches.
  2. Filter by sport -- Narrow the list to coaches who teach your sport (Tennis, Cricket, Pickleball, etc.).
  3. Filter by lesson type -- Look for coaches offering the specific format you want (Private, Group, Clinic, etc.).
  4. Search by name -- If you already know your coach, search for them directly.

Evaluating a Coach

Before booking, review the coach's profile to make sure they are the right fit:

  • Bio -- Read about their coaching philosophy and teaching style.
  • Specializations -- Confirm they teach your sport.
  • Certifications -- Check their professional qualifications.
  • Experience -- See how many years they have been coaching.
  • Coach level -- Trainee, Junior, Standard, Senior, or Master.
  • Hourly rate -- Review their pricing.
tip

Look for coaches whose skill level focus matches your needs. A beginner player benefits most from a coach who lists beginner and intermediate specializations, not one focused on elite training.

Browsing Available Blocks

Once you have found a coach, view their available blocks:

  1. Click on the coach's name to open their profile.
  2. Click View Available Blocks or Book a Lesson.
  3. You will see a calendar or list view of all their published, approved blocks with open spots.

Each block listing shows:

DetailWhat You See
Date and timeWhen the session takes place
Lesson typePrivate, Semi-Private, Group, Drop-In, Clinic, or Camp
SportThe sport being taught
Skill levelBeginner, Intermediate, Advanced, or Elite
Age groupThe target age range for the session
Spots remainingHow many openings are left
PriceThe cost (flat rate or per student)
info

Only blocks that are both approved by the facility admin and published by the coach appear in your search results. If a coach's calendar looks empty, they may not have published upcoming blocks yet.

Booking a Lesson

To book a lesson:

  1. Find the block you want to attend.
  2. Click Book on the block listing.
  3. Review the session details -- time, location, price, and any applicable discounts.
  4. Select the player (yourself or a child from your family account).
  5. Confirm the booking.
  6. You receive a confirmation with the session details.

Booking for a Child

If you are a parent managing a child's account, you can book lessons on their behalf:

  1. During the booking process, you will see an option to select a family member.
  2. Choose the child who will attend the lesson.
  3. The booking is created under the child's player profile.

Understanding Pricing

Block pricing works in two modes:

  • Flat rate -- You pay the listed price regardless of the number of students. This is typical for private lessons.
  • Per student -- You pay the listed price per student. This is common for group sessions.

If the coach has applied a discount percentage, the discounted price is shown on the block listing.

info

Pricing may vary by coach, lesson type, and facility. Always review the price before confirming your booking.

After You Book

Once your booking is confirmed:

  • The session appears on your Player Dashboard calendar.
  • You receive a notification with the date, time, location, and coach name.
  • The coach sees your name in their booked session details.
  • If the session has a minimum student requirement that is not yet met, you will be notified if the session is at risk of being cancelled.

Cancelling a Booking

If you need to cancel:

  1. Go to your Player Dashboard and find the booking.
  2. Click Cancel Booking.
  3. Review the cancellation policy (which may include fees depending on how close to the session you cancel).
  4. Confirm the cancellation.
caution

Check the facility's cancellation policy before cancelling. Late cancellations may incur a charge. Early cancellations are more likely to receive a full refund.

Rebooking and Regular Lessons

If you regularly train with the same coach, look for their recurring blocks. Recurring blocks appear on the calendar at the same time each week (or on whatever schedule the coach has set). You can book individual occurrences as they become available.
