Coach Levels
SlotBase assigns every coach a level that reflects their qualifications, experience, and standing on the platform. Coach levels help players choose the right coach for their needs and help facility admins manage their coaching roster with clear tiers.
The Five Coach Levels
| Level | Summary |
|---|---|
| Trainee | Entry-level; learning the craft of coaching |
| Junior | Developing coach with some independent teaching experience |
| Standard | Competent, established coach with a proven track record |
| Senior | Highly experienced coach with advanced credentials |
| Master | Elite-level coach; top-tier qualifications and extensive career |
Level Details
Trainee
A Trainee coach is just starting their coaching journey. Trainees are typically:
- Shadowing or assisting more experienced coaches
- Completing their initial coaching certifications
- Building foundational teaching skills under supervision
Trainee coaches may have restrictions on the lesson types they can offer. Some facilities require trainees to only assist with group sessions or work under the supervision of a Senior or Master coach.
Junior
A Junior coach has gained enough experience to lead sessions independently, particularly with beginner-level students. Junior coaches typically:
- Have 1-2 years of coaching experience
- Hold at least one entry-level certification in their sport
- Can lead beginner and some intermediate sessions
- May still be developing their advanced coaching techniques
Standard
A Standard coach is a well-rounded, established professional. This is the most common level for active coaches on the platform. Standard coaches typically:
- Have 3-5 years of coaching experience
- Hold recognized certifications at an intermediate level or higher
- Can effectively teach beginners through advanced students
- Have a track record of positive student outcomes and reviews
Senior
A Senior coach brings deep expertise and advanced credentials. Senior coaches typically:
- Have 6-10 years of coaching experience
- Hold advanced or specialist certifications
- Excel at coaching advanced and elite-level students
- Often mentor Junior and Standard coaches at their facility
- May specialize in competitive training and tournament preparation
Master
A Master coach represents the highest level of coaching excellence on SlotBase. Master coaches typically:
- Have 10+ years of coaching experience
- Hold the highest-level certifications available in their sport
- Have a distinguished track record, potentially including work with professional athletes
- Are recognized authorities in their sport and coaching methodology
- Often lead clinics, camps, and coach training programs
How Levels Are Assigned
Coach levels are determined based on a combination of factors:
- Certifications -- The type and level of professional certifications you hold.
- Experience -- The number of years you have been coaching.
- Facility admin input -- Facility admins may recommend or adjust a coach's level based on their firsthand observation.
- Platform activity -- Your history of sessions delivered, student feedback, and reliability.
Your coach level is visible on your profile and is shown to players when they browse coaches. A higher level can attract more bookings and allow you to command higher rates.
What Levels Mean for Players
When browsing coaches, players can use levels to make informed decisions:
| Player Goal | Recommended Coach Level |
|---|---|
| Learning a new sport from scratch | Junior or Standard |
| Improving intermediate skills | Standard or Senior |
| Preparing for competitive play | Senior or Master |
| Elite performance training | Master |
| Budget-friendly lessons | Trainee or Junior |
A higher coach level does not always mean a better fit. Beginners often benefit greatly from Junior or Standard coaches who specialize in foundational skills. Match the coach level to your goals, not just the highest available.
What Levels Mean for Facility Admins
Facility admins use coach levels to:
- Organize their roster -- Assign coaches to appropriate lesson types and events based on level.
- Set pricing tiers -- Higher-level coaches can have higher hourly rates in their affiliation settings.
- Staff events -- Assign Master or Senior coaches to lead clinics and camps, with Junior or Standard coaches as assistants.
- Quality assurance -- Ensure that advanced lessons are taught by appropriately qualified coaches.
Advancing to the Next Level
To move up in coach level:
- Earn certifications -- Complete additional training and certification programs in your sport.
- Gain experience -- Accumulate more coaching hours and years.
- Deliver quality sessions -- Build a strong track record of student satisfaction.
- Discuss with your admin -- Talk to your facility admin about your progression goals.
Level changes are not automatic. They require a review process. If you believe your level should be updated, discuss it with your facility admin and provide evidence of your qualifications.
