Coach Blocks

A block is a time slot that you create to indicate when you are available to teach at a facility. Blocks define everything about a potential lesson -- the time, sport, lesson type, skill level, capacity, and price. Once a block is approved by the facility admin and published, players can browse and book it.

What Is a Block?

Think of a block as a "lesson slot" on the facility calendar. Each block represents a specific window of time during which you are offering coaching. You control what kind of lesson it is, who it is for, and how much it costs.

info

Blocks must be approved by a facility admin before they become visible to players. See Block Approval for details.

Creating a Block

To create a new block:

  1. Navigate to your Coach Dashboard.
  2. Click Create Block or click directly on the calendar at your desired time.
  3. Fill in the block details (described below).
  4. Click Submit to send the block for admin approval.

Lesson Types Explained

Choose the lesson type that fits your teaching plan:

  • Private -- One-on-one session. Max students is always 1.
  • Semi-Private -- A small group of 2-3 students.
  • Group -- A larger group of 4 or more students.
  • Drop-In -- An open session where players can show up without advance booking.
  • Clinic -- A focused skills workshop, often a one-time session on a specific topic.
  • Camp -- A multi-day intensive program.

Pricing Your Blocks

You set the price for each block individually. You have two pricing modes:

  • Flat rate -- One price for the entire block, regardless of how many students attend.
  • Per student -- The listed price is charged to each individual student.
tip

For group lessons, per-student pricing is common. For private lessons, a flat rate works best since there is only one student.

You can also apply a discount percentage to offer promotional pricing on specific blocks.

Recurring Blocks

If you teach the same lesson on a regular schedule, you can set up recurring blocks instead of creating each one manually. Recurring options include:

PatternFrequency
NoneOne-time block only
DailyRepeats every day
WeeklyRepeats every week on the same day
BiweeklyRepeats every two weeks
MonthlyRepeats once per month

When you create a recurring block, SlotBase generates a parent block and a series of child blocks. You can edit or cancel individual child blocks without affecting the rest of the series.

warning

If you delete the parent block, all associated child blocks will also be removed. Edit individual occurrences if you only need to change one session.

Block Statuses

Every block moves through a lifecycle:

StatusMeaning
PendingSubmitted and awaiting admin review
ApprovedAdmin has approved; block is ready for bookings
RejectedAdmin has declined the block
CancelledYou or the admin cancelled the block

Publishing a Block

Even after a block is approved, it will not appear to players unless the isPublished flag is set. This gives you the option to get blocks approved in advance and then publish them when you are ready.

  1. Go to your Coach Dashboard and find the approved block.
  2. Toggle Published to make the block visible to players.
info

Unpublishing a block hides it from new bookings but does not cancel existing bookings already made on that block.
